La batalla de Salamina fue un enfrentamiento entre las fuerzas navales de la coalición griega dirigida por el ateniense Temístocles y las fuerzas navales del imperio persa. Se desarrolló en el golfo de Egina, cerca de la isla de Salamina, al oeste de la ciudad de Atenas, a finales del verano del 480 a.C. Como resultado final, la flota persa, compuesta de unas 500 naves aproximadamente, fue aplastada por la ateniense, de 380 naves, y se vio obligada a huir.
